Sky View Parc - Another Prestigious ALUPROF’s Project in the USA

New York is a constantly developing city, where a multitude of new investments are being implemented. Old buildings are replaced with new ones and we are very proud of the fact that future projects will be completed , in which ALUPROF’s aluminum systems are incorporated.

Due to being involved in international projects for some time now, the company’s reputation of Polish expertise and technical quality is well known. Extensive experience of the company’s employees and meticulous care for the minutest detail have led to the American dream coming true in respect of the expansion of this Bielsko-Biała based company. Thanks to it, year after year, the ALUPROF’s portfolio is enriched with new buildings erected across the Atlantic, in which the company’s façade systems have been applied, the recently completed Sky View Parc in New York being one of them.

The City in Aluminum 

The huge potential American market is important to ALUPROF, which together with an American partner established ALUPROF USA, the company based in New York and targeted their activities on achieving a steady increase in sales by focusing on winning contracts in the largest conurbations of the East Coast of the USA. – It’s a friendly and huge market. In the very heart of New York, inhabited by almost 8 million people, more buildings are being erected now than in the whole territory of Poland. We are extremely glad that our products are used in these investments and we are getting ready to face subsequent big challenges – says Tomasz Grela, ALUPROF’s CEO.

The buildings currently under construction are located in Brooklyn Navy Yard. The first façade structures required for its erection have already been shipped to the USA. The next on the list is the building at 19 East Houston – not large, but architecturally interesting, especially with regard to façade solutions. However, the most recent pride and the true pearl in the ALUPROF’s portfolio is erection of luxury complex of three apartment buildings called Sky View Parc. This quite recently completed object was conceived in the Canadian architectural Toronto-based design studio architects Alliance. – Each of the three buildings is 17-storey high. For the purpose of realization of that project we designed two types of segment-based facades: the MB-SE80 SG WW and the MB-SE80 SG CW – explains Dariusz Ruśniok, Chief Constructor in the Façade Development Section at ALUPROF.

Individualized Apartment Building

The solution created by ALUPROF provided the Sky View Parc with individual architectural expression and the properly designed façade positively impacted both the energy balance of the whole object as well as the comfort of its users.

The MB-SE80 SG WW system of filling segment-based wall, of which most of the glazed parts of the building is built, enhances the effect of a uniform glass belt stretched between the storeys of the building, divided with vertical gaps 22 mm wide. The load-bearing sections of the system are 80 mm wide and glass panels are glued onto them with structural silicone in the SSG technology. Angular connections may be applied to the structure and the frames of opening elements may be filled with outside opening windows as well as with doors of the MB-70HI Casement system. High sound insulation performance compliant with the requirements of the OITC 34 rating system is yet another characteristic feature of the structure. – It is an extremely important feature of this system, especially in such a city as New York, full of noise and vibrations caused by road traffic. Under such circumstances it is necessary to apply solutions compensating the influence of the environment on the building – adds Dariusz Ruśniok, Chief Constructor in the Façade Development Section at ALUPROF.

The second structure designed for the purpose of constructing Sky View Parc is the MB-SE80 SG CW system. It is a segment-based façade thanks to which no scaffolding is required during the construction stage. On the outside it gives the effect of a uniform glass surface, divided with vertical gaps 22 mm wide and horizontal gaps 30 mm wide. The idea of independently joined segments of the façade resulted in forming vertical and horizontal expansion joints, which ensure proper performance of the structure. Built in the MB-SE80 SG CW system, the structure features appropriate tightness parameters, high thermal and acoustic performance as well as the assumed resistance to seismic shocks.

At present, the ALUPROF’s portfolio contains several realizations completed in the USA, in which the company’s façade systems have been applied. In New York itself it is LIC Marriott hotel and the buildings at 325 Lexington Avenue, to name just a few.
